A place to write about media I consume. I call them reviews, but honestly, it's more just speaking about my personal feelings than legitimate critiques.

Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. - Slipknot

The "first album," if we can even call it such. This is more of a demo tape... I feel like I may be a psychopath for enjoying the funk elements in some of these tracks; they took me off guard and, I can't lie, got me in the mood to dance. I'm a sucker for funky bass, can't help it! This was before Corey became the vocalist, and while Anders does a fine job, it's just a fine job. The vocals unfortunately held a lot back, especially in "Some Feel." Otherwise, it doesn't have incredibly horrible production, and the bass really just makes up for most of my issues with it. It was nice hearing the early versions of a few iconic tracks. The two final tracks, "Killers Are Quiet" and the hidden track "Dogfish Rising," are dark and a bit hard for me to take in properly. I'm not the best at enjoying longer tracks, but I can appreciate their sound regardless. I love the ending to this album, it made me giggle. I think that if you go into this album with the mindset of "these tracks don't want to be taken seriously," it becomes much easier to listen to. My favorite track is "Do Nothing / Bitchslap" lmfao. It could have been "Confessions" had it not been for those vocals.

Migrating old reviews part 2

Below is a set of reviews I posted on SpaceHey on 11/03/2024 with some minor editing. I plan on updating some of these with my current thoughts at a later date:

My second batch of reviews. The other ones were a lot of fun to write so I'm excited to make more. I'm just trying to try new stuff out and find new music to enjoy. I hope you enjoy my rambling.

Thirteenth Step - A Perfect Circle

So I actually listened to all of A Perfect Circle's discography after my previous blog, unfortunately I made the mistake of listening to the greatest album first T_T. It's not that I hated the others, but none could compare to Mer de Noms' beauty for me. This album would have to be my second favorite however, it felt very calming and reminded me a lot of the first. I liked the eerie sound, granted it was a bit too slow at times for my taste. My favorite track is "Pet."

Both Before I'm Gone - Girl In A Coma

I listened to most of their discography and their stuff is really fun and unique. I don't hear this kind of stuff often anymore, and I love me an all girl band. I enjoyed the vocals a lot especially in this album and in "Adventures in Coverland." The cover art for this album is so so cute, I love it. My favorite track is "Their Cell."

haha - The Garden

I have always admired the jester look The Garden pulls off, I'm a big fan of all things under the "clown" umbrella. Of course, I was lazy and put off listening to their music for a long time. I heard "Call this # Now" and immediately added it to my likes on Spotify a few years back, but only a couple weeks ago I jumped right in and listened to a good handful of their music. I enjoyed what I listened to a lot! This album was very fun and right up my alley with the crazy sounds. Also, I didn't even realize the "TikTok song" was by them until I heard it here lol. My favorite track is "Egg."

¿Pimp? - Clown

Found this album thanks to a Nu Metal iceberg. As stated above, I love anything clown related so I'm intrigued even by a band just named "Clown." I gotta say, this album was good. Sounds very much like if Korn and Deftones had a baby. When I looked them up on Spotify it said the album was released in 2021, but after some digging apparently it was actually released in the late 90s. I wish they made more music and figured out their sound, I'm sure they could have gotten a larger following had they done so. My favorite track is "Laugh."

Love Lies Bleeding - 616 undone

Discovered them from the same iceberg I found Clown in. This album is pretty and I really enjoyed it. I spent most of the my first time listening to it while driving my brother to and from work and it's the perfect car ride music. My favorite tracks are "John's Problem" and surprisingly enough, since I typically have a distaste for such long songs, "Essence."

Best Buds - Mom Jeans.

Heard "Death Cup" in a video and thought it sounded nice. I tried to get into the Midwest Emo genre once before and I wasn't a fan. The slow sound and the vocals didn't do much for me, but this album really brought back some hope that maybe I can enjoy the genre. The instrumentals are beautiful, the guitar really made this album great for me. Funnily enough I was listening to this album while writing the other reviews. I figured since I just listened to it I might as well include it while my first impression is still fresh. While I'm still unsure of Midwest Emo, I am gonna give it another shot and listen to more of it thanks to Mom Jeans. My favorite track is "Remy's Boyz."

Migrating old reviews part 1

Below is a set of reviews I posted on SpaceHey on 10/11/2024 with some minor editing. I plan on updating some of these with my current thoughts at a later date:

I'm no music critic, quite the opposite. These are all personal opinions based on my own tastes and preferences, not on if these are good or not objectively.

Paegan Terrorism Tactics - Acid Bath

I really enjoyed this album! I had been putting off Acid Bath for years and I wish I didn't and listened to them sooner, because this album was very nice and puts me in a fun mood. I love this kind of stuff for drives and when I'm writing. My favorite track is "Bleed Me an Ocean."

The Young and The Hopeless - Good Charlotte

This was recommended to me by a random internet stranger, honestly this album didn't string many chords with me. The vocals are a little too whiny for my liking (same reason I dislike blink-182). I tried to like it, but only a few tracks were somewhat enjoyable for me. My favorite track is "My Bloody Valentine."

Don't You Fake It - The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus

To be honest I had never actually heard this band's name until recently, which is so horrible I can't believe I didn't know. Anyways, I found "Justify" in a random Spotify playlist and decided to listen to the full album. I feel like such a dummy, my mom raised me around this type of music so I obviously knew "False Pretense" and "Face Down," but I didn't know the names nor the band, so you can imagine my delighted surprise when both songs played. I love this album it's very nostalgic for me even if I didn't know their name. My favorite track is "Justify."

The Changing Of Times - Underoath

Similar boat as the previous album, found it in a random Spotify playlist. I had not heard a single song from this album, however. I really liked the instrumentals for these songs. Perfect album for getting ready in the early morning. I plan on listening to their other albums, especially because this one wasn't that interesting for me, sadly. I hope I like their other stuff a little more. My favorite track is probably "Never Meant To Break Your Heart."

Spit - Kittie

GOD this one hurts my heart because I really really wanted to like it, but for some reason I just found myself so bored listening to it.. I really loved the vocals! That was my favorite part, but often they were very quiet and it kind of killed it for me. I also prefer faster paced songs and this album was pretty slow at times. The faster songs though were super enjoyable, I just wish I also enjoyed the slower ones too. I'm hoping if I listen to it more over time it will end up growing on me, I will update if that is the case. My favorite track is "Brackish."

Mer De Noms - A Perfect Circle

Let's end this off on a good note. This album is breathtaking.. I had "Judith" in my playlist for years and just now I finally listened to this album SMH. Definitely going to listen to their other albums, this was just such a beautiful listen for me. I could fall asleep to these songs. My favorite track is "The Hollow."

Nothing here, yet. MyAnimeList has logs of things I'm watching and reading, but no reviews.
Nothing here, yet. Check out my Backloggd for some of my thoughts on a handful of games. I plan on writing more thoroughly in here about them and more later.
